Looking out from "Destination Zulu", one of two main entrances to the station, and the one most commonly used. Note the "wings" on either side. These two wings contain dormitory rooms. Note the particle board: the siding on the station was still unfinished on this portion at the end of the 2007-08 summer season, although the siding on the upwind side of the station and one wing were finished this year, and siding on another wing was begun. Outdoor work goes very slowly at the South Pole. This was at least the second season which had one crew of carps (carpenters, though the term is loosely used, and "heavy carps" also do a lot of metal work) devoted just to siding.
