Pond Inlet, Baffin Island, Nunavut

The hamlet of Pond Inlet is a bit grim to look at I'm afraid, built in industrial estate chic in a limited palette of drab colours. I guess it's all shipped probably in pre-fabricated and then erected. There are big gaps between the buildings partly due to reducing fire risks, if one catches fire in the winter when there is a distinct lack of water in liquid form, very dry air and possibly a breeze to fan the flames, then there's not much that can be done other than to stand and watch until it goes out. A big gap to the next building means that the fire is less likely to spread.
