Glacier, Svalbard - 1

This was a day where "Arctic distances" were very much in evidence. When we woke up aboard the boat this glacier seemed very close to us. We went ashore by zodiac and it got no closer, we then walked for half an hour along the lateral moraine (beach and low hills to the left) and it got no closer, nearly an hour later it still looked the same distance away except by this time we seemed to have traversed enough lateral moraine to build a small country from. I didn't think there was this much gravel and small stones in the whole world.
