Leningradskaya station is a currently closed Soviet Antarctic research station open from 1971 to 1991 in Oates Land. It is located at 69°30'S 159°23'E (on the north shore of Victoria Land, at the Oates Coast).
The station was closed after the collapse of the Soviet Union as it was too costly to keep the base running and difficult to resupply due its remote location and difficult access.
There was an announcement in February 2006 by the Russian Antarctic Expedition (RAE), that: "There are plans to open the mothballed stations Molodyozhnaya, Leningradskaya and Russkaya in the 2007-2008 season."
Though this did not happen and the station remains closed.
