Where the name comes from: The visual effect of light reflecting and shimmering within the stone when it is moved.Where the stones come from: Worldwide including Australia, Mexico, Madagascar, Burma, Norway, Sri Lanka and the USA.
Chemistry: Sodium potassium aluminium silicate, (Na,K)AlSi3O8 it is made from two forms of feldspar.
Colors: Blue is the classical color against an almost transparent background, though also available in beige, brown, green backgrounds.
