View of outside with antenna towers. Summer season of 60-61 saw a new communications building erected, with 11 transmitters and 13 receivers. The building plans included a large ventilation system to cool all this equipment, but instead we needed an 80,000 BTU furnace to heat the place. There was not even enough electrical generating capacity at the station to run all these transmitters at once to create the need for the cooling.
These are the antennas for this new equipment. Prior to this facility, the base ran with a single low power transmitter fed into a 100 foot long straight wire antenna that was buried under the snow surface.
