We had two D4s, this one with a boom/hoist, and one with a homemade hydraulic bucket on the front. (Despite several years of requests for a regular hydraulic bucket for the D4 that would allow scooping together with tilting and emptying, someone in Washington DC always decided there was no need for one at the Pole. This meant that collecting snow for melting for water required us to shovel snow into the bucket, and then again shovel it out of the bucket. But Washington knows best!!)
