A case of beer. The beer was stored in one of the tunnel areas and was frozen, requiring a couple of days to thaw. Whiskey bottle is US Navy issue brand name “Old Methuselah” (really!!) Occasionally I would make a bottle of gin (½ medical alcohol, ½ water, a tablespoonful of glycerin, and a few drops of oil of juniper.) or vodka (same recipe but no oil of juniper.)
There was only one episode of drunkenness during the entire year, and that was when one of the civilians received word that his fiancée had just married someone else.
