Adelie penguin emerging from the sea

Small penguins can get a lot of height when emerging from the sea onto the shore. The most impressive ones have to be the occasional penguin that would be seen on the roof of the launch Serolis at anchor which was about 8 feet above sea level. Legend and popular thought had it that they were probably being chased by leopard seals to reach such a height - I see no reason to consider otherwise.
