Fur seal pup meets something even hairier. Fur seals were rare visitors to Signy in the 1940's through to about the 1960's and pups an even rarer sight. By the 1980's there were several thousands each summer - mainly juvenile males over-spilling from South Georgia. By the early 1990's 10,000 or more seals were present on Signy at the peak time in the summer.
