(Slide from D.R.Walk, MD, OinC Byrd Station 1960-1961.) Pole Station had a similar accumulation but to about half the degree that Byrd Station experienced.
Both stations had bad crushing problems due to the weight of the snow (see later slides); Byrd had at least one building where there was a support timber placed every 18 inches in every direction!
