1911 - Henry Bowers, Edward Wilson and Apsley Cherry-Garrard (l to r) set off on a winter journey from Scott's hut to Cape Crozier to bring back an emperor penguin egg in the Antarctic winter night. This is what Cherry-Garrard later describes as "The Worst Journey in the World". "We were camped that night about half a mile in from the Barrier edge. The temperature was -56° (F). We had a baddish time, being very glad to get out of our shivering bags next morning."
