Roald Amundsen, Norwegian South Pole Expedition on the ship Fram, 1910 - 1912.
1911 - Amundsen's camp pitched at the foot of the Axel Heiberg Glacier. The polar party are here still on the Great Ice Barrier about to leave the flat monotonous ice to gain altitude through the Trans Antarctic Mountains on the way to the Polar Plateau.
