Carsten E. Borchgrevink, British Antarctic Expedition on the ship Southern Cross, 1898 - 1900.
1899 - Nicolai Hansen buried at Cape Verde above the expedition base at Cape Adare after dynamite was used to dig the grave. The first burial in Antarctica.
