Robert Falcon Scott, British Antarctic Expedition (South Pole Expedition) on the ship Terra Nova, 1910 - 1913.
1911 - Captain Scott leaves his expedition base to try to be the first to reach the South Pole, this is his second expedition and attempt.
On the same day, the last motor gives up, constant repairs, difficulty in starting, overheating problems, the motor party are relieved to now be manhauling supplies ahead of Scott and the Ponies.

1912 - The dog party leaves Cape Evans, Hut point and Vince's cross can be seen in the background. Part of the search parties that went out to look for the remains of Scott and the missing Polar Party in the spring following their disappearance in March. There is no hope for their survival over the Antarctic winter.
