Robert Falcon Scott, British Antarctic Expedition on the ship Discovery, 1901 - 1904.
1902 - Scott, Shackleton and Wilson set out to try and reach the South Pole with a dog team, part of the Discovery expedition. 'Every soul was gathered on the floe to bid us farewell, and many were prepared to accompany us for the first few miles.'
1902 - The Scotia with William Spiers Bruce and the Scottish Antarctic Expedition sail from the river Clyde, Glasgow.
